What Is Determined Leadership

Determined Leadership

Being a leader is a goal that many people will start out with a high level of excitement and with great enthusiasm, especially with the idea of making a positive change, but sometimes we fall short, and we begin to question our leadership abilities and if we stay on this path of doubt, we end up giving up.

To develop and sharpen our leadership skills we will read PMA books, listen to podcasts, attend leadership workshops, look up to the mentors we follow, then we work on utilizing what we are learning on how to become a better leader for our families and with our work organizations.

When you try to apply what you have learned and then when you start to experience resistance, it is not uncommon to become discouraged and then you will have to decide to either make the decision to stop and quit or make adjustments and move forward.

This pushback can take on various forms, such as loosing motivation to keep going or stopping completely, making it tough to see the value in continuing with your efforts.

Facing resistance can make any aspiring leader to feel like your efforts are pointless, creating a different mindset to give up when it becomes hard, or you don't see any personal value to keep going.

The lack of immediate support, encouragement or results from your efforts can be disheartening, causing you to slide back into your previous role, especially if that role is comfortable for you.

Remember, a leader understands that sometimes operating in uncomfortable environments is a must for a successful outcome.

Allowing yourself to give up will mean that you will miss out on the chance for personal growth and the growth of your team/ family. Not giving up will have a positive influence that will create a breakthrough experience for not just yourself, but everyone involved.

To be a true leader, you have to look at resistance as a natural part of the process. Instead of giving up, adapt or tweak your strategies and work with what you have to make small, manageable changes and ultimately accomplish the mission you set out for.

You might not be able to make the major changes all at once but if you start with the small ones first, you will start reaching the overall goal that is needed for you and your team. Making small beneficial changes will allow you to gradually win people over and the resistance will be reduced, proving that persistence pays off.

When you implement these adjustments within the work or home environment and use the influence with these key traits you become a more effective leader. When you start experiencing small successes, a momentum will start to build, and that is when you will start to see the trust from others over time. This approach not only helps you and your team achieve the goals you are striving for but also sets a positive example for others to follow, which is where the win is.

The journey of being a leader will always be full of challenges, so do not expect everything to run smoothly. Success comes from not giving up when things get tough but from adapting and finding ways to move forward. When you apply the "Never Give Up Attitude", you will become a stronger leader where you will make a real difference in your organization. This demonstrates that the true value of leadership lies in overcoming obstacles with determination and smart strategies. Make a decision to turn the negative emotions into a positive motivation and you will start to feel and see the energy shift towards the better.

What I personally like to do is document everything and then go back on a different day and study through my previous decisions, actions and conversations with others and evaluate the outcomes and then come to the conclusion if any of that added any type of value for myself or for the people involved. Yes, I know, it doesn't always work out perfectly but for the most part it does.

An effective leader is Proactive and not just Reactive.
